Human Rights
This piece is about Human Rights and was written by the children of
Lumcloon National School
Co.Offaly, Ireland. 30 children read the Universal Declaration on Human Rights
page and we decided to write our own Human Rights page.
They are based on the real Human Rights page.
It is the 50th Anniversary of the Declaration on Human Rights, they were first
passed in 1948.
It is now 1998. Every year they are celebrated and remembered on the 10th of
December.
Some countries break these rules.
Here are some of the thoughts we had on Human Rights.
Arlene & Niall, 6th class
Everyone should be allowed to have their own home and family.
Anthony
Every child should be allowed to have an education.
Caitriona
I think every person should be allowed their own religion.
Trevor
I think everybody on the streets without a home should be given
a job and a place to live.
Brian
Poor people should be treated free in hospital.
Stephen
Everything should be shared fairly between people.
Niall
Everybody should be cared for and respected and should not be bullied.
Audrey
All people should share their food with the poor.
Fiona
Everybody should be allowed to get a proper education.
Laura
I think you should not have to carry a weapon everywhere thinking
someone might kill you.
James
You should not be judged by the colour of your skin.
Arlene
People should be allowed to vote and stand up for themselves.
Aishling
I think children should not be seperated from their parents.
Martina
Everyone should be allowed to go to school.
Mary Rose
Everyone should have the right to live in whatever home they wish.
Eoin
I think no person should be arrested for peacefully protesting
for something they believe in.
