Brieriú

Breriú was the most troublesome man in all Ulster... maybe even in Ireland. And, believe it or not, if he wasn't causing trouble he got a purple boil on his forehead.

Once when he held a feast for Conor MacNeasa and his nobles but when they wouldn't come he threathened to make them kill each other and set son against father if they didn't come. So they turned up! Meanwhile Breiriu told three warriors, Cúchulainn, Laoighre Buadach and Conall Cearnach, that he would give each the Champions portion, the biggest meal reserved for the greatest warrior.

And once the feast started there was a big fight between the three warriors over who was the greatest. He also told each of their wives to be the first in to the feast and there was such a race to get in all of them got stuck in the door. Then Cúchulainn lifted up the side of the building and let his own wife in first.

He was royal poet to King Conor McNeasa. Breíríu was so annoying he often got Cúchulainn to perform miraculous feat after miraculous feat as a result of his taunting. He was killed when he was ran over during the fight between the Brown Bull of Cooley and the White Bull of Connaght in which he was a judge.
